Padraig Ansbro began by sharing a touching video from his recent Veterans Day presentation to the Seaside City Council, offering a heartfelt tribute to veterans both
locally and around the world. He then moved into tsunami safety, emphasizing that while those living above the tsunami zone may be out of immediate danger, they
will certainly play a crucial role as evacuees head uphill – much like the 600+ visitors his neighborhood saw on Halloween.
Padraig outlined what a major earthquake could mean for our region: damaged infrastructure, limited access to essentials, overwhelmed first responders and little
federal assistance for several days to weeks. His message was clear – self-sufficiency and community preparedness are essential.
Padraig highlighted four key areas: psychological & emotional readiness, having at least 14 days of food and water (including for pets), strong neighborhood
communication plans, and a calm, ethical approach to security that prioritizes the most vulnerable.
Overall, it was an informative reminder that preparedness starts with each of us and is strongest when we work together.
