Citizen Review Board
We learned about the Citizen Review Board from Maiya Hall-Olsen, Citizen Review Board Field Manager, and Tita Montero,
Clatsop CRB member & member of CRB State Advisory Committee. The Citizen Review Board (CRB) is a program within
Oregon’s state court system that reviews the cases of children in foster care. The CRB is a board of citizen volunteers from
local communities who conduct oversight of foster care cases based on set criteria. In simple terms, the CRB acts as the eyes
and ears for judges in case review, recommendations and commendations. In Clatsop County, there are approximately 100
children in foster care. To help protect the needs of these children, there is a need for more foster families, Court Appointed
Special Advocates (CASAs), and CRB board members (there are 5 open positions currently in Clatsop County). Currently,
there are 55 boards in 33 of Oregon’s 36 counties.
