At our last meeting, we welcomed Curt Penrod from Ducks Unlimited, an international organization dedicated to wetlands conservation across the U.S., Canada, and
Mexico – reflecting the migratory flyways of waterfowl. Curt shared how Ducks Unlimited’s work in watershed restoration and habitat preservation supports not only
ducks, but hundreds of species including salmon, while also protecting spaces for outdoor recreation and family enjoyment. With more than 678,000 members and
30,000 volunteers nationwide, including 50 chapters in Oregon, the impact is significant. Local to Oregon, projects like Sauvie Island and the Klamath Falls watershed
highlight their regional commitment. The Northwest chapter continues to lead the way, raising $90,000 at their recent event and ranking as Oregon’s top event earner
in 2025. Curt also spoke about his personal connection to the mission, combining his love of the outdoors with community involvement and professional skills. He
closed by thanking local supporters, including Rotarians Tom Jensen (Grocery Outlet) and Dawn Fujiwara-Pavlik (Crafted in Seaside).
